As time continues to change, LGU-Tubigon faces different challenges in tax collection. The Municipal Treasurer’s Office has to employ many innovations in Tax Collection to meet the municipality’s growing developmental requirements. Computerization of BPLS , Enhanced Tax Revenue and Collection System (ETRACS) and establishment of Business Permits One Stop Shop (BOSS) to name a few are one these innovations.
One of the most notable and effective innovations is the Tax Campaign. In July of this year, the Municipal Treasurer’s Office conducted its annual Tax Campaign. Unlike the conventional way of Tax Collection, the Municipal Treasurer’s Office sent personnel to 34 barangays of Tubigon to conduct on-the-spot tax assessment and collection, information campaign to inform the people of the various provisions of the local revenue/tax ordinances, identifying taxable individuals and establishments with the help of the barangay officials and sending out notices of delinquency. The tax campaign also includes compromise agreement and negotiations for the collection of real property taxes.
Tax campaign contributes significantly to the increase of our revenue, as a matter of fact the Municipal Treasurer’s Office of Tubigon was recently awarded by the Provincial Government of Bohol, as one the top performing municipality in terms of real property tax collection.
